Positive Behaviour Supports

Positive Behaviour Support: Encouraging Growth and Independence

At Aspired Ability we are dedicated to assisting individuals to develop positive behaviours that support their independence, wellbeing, and ability to engage successfully in daily life.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on developing an understanding of the reasons behind behaviours of concern and implementing proactive, person-centred strategies to create lasting, positive change.

What is Positive Behaviour Support?

PBS aims to:

✅ Identify the underlying causes of behaviours of concern through comprehensive assessments
✅ Develop individualised Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) tailored to each client’s  needs
✅ Implement strengths-based strategies to encourage positive interactions and self-regulation
✅ Reduce restrictive practices and support greater autonomy
✅ Enhance participation in family, school, work, and community life

The Role of a Behaviour Support Practitioner:

Our Registered Behaviour Support Practitioners provide guidance and support for clients with NDIS Positive Behaviour Support funding by:

🔹Conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) to understand behaviour triggers and patterns
🔹Developing individualised Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in line with NDIS guidelines
🔹Working closely with families, caregivers, and support teams to implement practical strategies
🔹Providing training and education to caregivers and support workers
🔹Monitoring progress and making adjustments to ensure positive outcomes

At Aspired Ability we take a collaborative, person-centred approach that respects each individual’s unique strengths and challenges. Our focus is on providing support and guidance to assist our clients to learn new skills, grow in confidence, and enjoy everyday activities to the fullest.

Physical Wellbeing Activities

Aspired Ability offers targeted, individualised 1:1 health and wellbeing programs provided by highly experienced personal trainers and wellness industry professionals who will work closely with clients to develop and maintain personalised health, wellbeing and exercise programs.

Physical and emotional wellbeing is crucial for people living with disability as it directly impacts on their quality of life, independence, and ability to participate in daily activities.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) aims to support people with disabilities in achieving greater independence, social participation, and overall wellbeing. Aligning physical and emotional wellbeing with NDIS outcomes highlights how these factors contribute to an improved quality of life.

✅Maintaining physical wellbeing promotes an individual’s ability to perform daily tasks with greater ease, reducing reliance on caregivers
✅Strong physical and emotional wellbeing fosters confidence and resilience, empowering individuals to make decisions about their own lives
✅When individuals feel physically and emotionally well, they are more likely to engage in social activities, education and employment, therefore increasing social connectedness and developing effective relationships in addition to combating feelings of isolation
✅Strong physical and emotional wellbeing supports the development of body image positivity and encourages self-love and acceptance
✅Overall feelings of positive wellbeing contribute to the strengthening  of emotional resilience that in turn, supports an individual’s ability to problem-solve, communicate, and adapt to challenges in daily life

By promoting both physical and emotional well-being, NDIS participants can maximise their health and fitness, independence, social engagement, and personal development, aligning with the scheme’s core goal of enhancing life outcomes for people with disabilities.
